District 9 Walking Audit
3:00 PM
West Elementary School
District 9 Walking Audit Description:
We will conduct a walking audit in your district. A walking audit is an assessment of the walkability or pedestrian access of an external environment. Walking audits are often undertaken in street environments to consider and promote the needs of pedestrians as a form of transport.

Wednesday, May 3rd
3:00pm
Meet at the Tennis Courts by West Elementary School
*we realize this is not an ideal time for some individuals who work, however we felt it important to conduct the audit around the school at its busiest time. If you have children you are picking up from school, please have them join us. The route we have chosen is a designated "Safe Route to School".

As you may have seen, Butte was ranked one of the least healthy communities in Montana (http://www.countyhealthrankings.org/app/montana/2017/county/snapshots/093/exclude-additional). Walkability offers surprising benefits to our health, the environment, our finances, and our communities. Health: The average resident of a walkable neighborhood weighs 6-10 pounds less than someone who lives in a sprawling neighborhood. 1. Cities with good public transit and access to amenities promote happiness.

**Please share this with anyone who would like to join us.
