Brown Bag Lunch with Jake Sorich: The Unforgettable M&M Description:
Before it burned down last May, the M&M was one of the oldest saloons in the country. The M&M saw some of the most wild, notorious and inspirational characters come through its doors. Movies were shot there, people were shot there, and plenty of rounds of shots were shared there as well. Join the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives was it continues its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, February 9, with a talk and book signing by Jake Sorich as he presents his new book, The Unforgettable M&M. The book also contains several never-before-seen photos of the saloon, its iconic sign, and the fire that burned it down. In the book, owner Selina Pankovich also gives her memories of what happened that day, and her plans for rebuilding the bar.

Jacob Sorich grew up in Butte and graduated from the University of Montana with a B.A. in journalism in 2006. He has written freelance articles for Paste Magazine, Montana Magazine, Consequence of Sound and others, and worked at newspapers throughout the west before returning to Butte to work as the advertising designer for the Montana Standard.

The presentation will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz Street. The Archives recommends masks for the safety of our patrons. Guests may bring a sack lunch, however, the archives will not provide coffee and water at this time.
