Brown Bag Lunch at the Archives is Worth the Wait
The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, February 12, with a discussion led by Sara Sparks and a special presentation of the film, Worth the Wait by Dick Maney and B.J. McKenzie. The movie documents 30 years of reclamation of mining and smelting wastes that accumulated in the upper Clark Fork River Basin in Montana, from mines in Butte to the smelters in Anaconda all the way to the Milltown Dam near Missoula. The extent of what has been accomplished is striking for what seemed to be an overwhelming task 30 years ago. Sara will address questions and continue the discussion following the movie.

Worth the Wait was created by filmmakers Dick Maney and BJ McKenzie who also made Butte: the Original in 2010 about the history and character of Butte.

Sara Sparks is the former Remedial Project Manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She was born and educated in Butte She is a graduate of Butte Central High School and Montana Tech in Butte, Montana, with a degree in Occupational Safety and Health. Before her retirement she was employed with EPA for 25 years, involved with the Superfund activities in Butte.

This presentation may last longer than the usual Brown Bag Lunches. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided by the Archives.
