We are excited to have back playwright James Venhaus for his final digital workshop featuring a reading of his brand new play: “Rude Mechs”. "Rude Mechs" and is a funny adaption of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” about a high school drama club trying to mount a production of Pyramus and Thisby. Everything that can go wrong does, and somehow, someway, the cast and the audience make it through. This is the SECOND reading of this play, with workshop notes taken back in September.

To sign up for this workshop: Please send an email with your name and age to Jackie Vetter at jackievetter@orphangirl.org. No experience required! Limited roles and observer spots available!

About the workshop artist: James Venhaus is the author of 18 plays including The Temple of Dionysus and Weird Sisters published by Playscripts, Inc. and, Stocking Stuffers, a collection of holiday themed 10-minute plays published by Original Works Publishing. His Shakespeare adaptations for young actors, Romeo and Juliet at Verona High, and A Great Big Deal Over Nothing, also published by Playscripts, Inc. have been produced over 100 times in schools and theatre across the country and in nine other countries.

What is the Online Theatre Outpost? Orphan Girl Children’s Theatre has a new theatre education program, Online Theatre Outpost! It is an extension of the Social Distance Series, which was our digital series created in the wake of the pandemic to safely produce theatre from our homes. As OGCT moves back to in-person programming, we still want to offer some digital programming to engage those in Butte and beyond. This programming will come in the form of classes, workshops and readings that will allow artists from all over the country to engage with our young artists and community members in Butte
